If you work in building ships, it's really important to keep track of different versions of your 3D models. Our tools make it simple to see, manage, and create different versions of your models. Here’s an easy guide to help you use these features.

👀 Viewing and Managing Versions

Model List Pages

  • Where to Find and View Versions: You can easily see the version number of each model on the model list pages. By default, only the latest version is shown to keep things simple.

Model Pages

  • Accessing Versioning Features: On every model page (like Dashboard, Settings, Quote, Viewer, Downloads, Data), there's a top bar that helps you manage versions. You can click on the versioning dropdown next to the model name to see a list of versions, switch to a different version, or create a new version directly from any page.

  • Track Your Progress: The Model Dashboard shows the total number of parts in the current version, so you can easily track your progress.

🔍 Comparing Versions

Model Viewer

  • Add and Remove Parts: In the Model Viewer, you can add and remove parts. This feature is convenient when working with different versions, as it lets you customize each version based on the parts you need. For more detailed instructions, check out our help file on How to Add and Remove Parts in the Model Viewer.

  • View Previous Versions: You can look at all the parts from older versions along with the current one.

  • Colorize and Group: Use color coding and grouping to easily see the differences between versions.

⚙️ Producing Model Parts

Model Quote

  • Current Version Production: Admins and Editors can view and accept quotes for parts from the current version to keep production simple.

🆕 New Feature: Producing the Complete Final Version

  • Produce Complete Package: If you need to make all parts from all previous versions in one "final" version:

    1. Turn on the Produce Complete Package option (available if there’s version 2 or higher).

    2. This will include all parts—except deleted ones—from previous versions.

    3. Parts will be labeled with their version numbers in the pallet list so you can easily identify them.

📥 Downloading Model Files

Version File Naming

  • File Versions in Names: All files you download automatically include the version number, so you know which version you're working with.

  • DXF Files: Version numbers are added to DXF file names and shown in the general marker.

  • Excel Files: Version numbers are also included in xlsx file names, like pallet and profile purchase lists.

  • Current Revision Only: By default, only parts from the current version are included in the downloadable lists, unless you use the complete production feature.

📝 Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Create or Switch Versions: Use the versioning dropdown in the top bar to create new versions or switch between existing ones.

  2. View Changes: Open the Model Viewer to compare versions using color coding.

  3. Produce Parts: Go to Model Quote to view and approve quotes for making parts.

  4. Enable Complete Production: To produce all parts from all versions, turn on Produce Complete Package in the production settings.

  5. Download Files: Download the latest files—all clearly marked with version numbers for easy use.
